Project Approach

Design & Planning

The design for the upgrade of the casino drew from the warm and natural color palette of the surrounding Rocky Mountains. Custom wall murals depicting the Rocky Mountains and different wildlife of the area flank the entrance corridor, providing an immersive entrance experience as guests approach the gaming floor. Programmable color-changing LED lighting, together with an interactive LED flooring system, create a state-of-the-art gaming environment designed to attract both new and existing clientele. An all-new restaurant and bar was added to support the gaming floor, providing a comfortable and inviting food & beverage space available to guests without leaving the casino. Additional upgrades included remodeled public restrooms, a new guest services area, a full-service restaurant kitchen, and a “grab & go” amenity for resort guests.

Build & Install

All of the architectural features, large format light fixtures, specialty railing systems, decorative columns, and other decor elements were prefabricated, pre-wired, and assembled offsite. This allowed for the onsite installation to progress with efficient phasing, keeping a portion of the gaming floor open throughout the project. The interactive LED flooring system allows guests to virtually enter the gaming floor through a field of snow, kick fallen leaves, or wade through a rippling stream. On holidays, such as Christmas, New Year’s, Canada Day, etc., the screen displays custom programs appropriate for the festivities, and the programmable lighting system further enhances the experience.

Finished Project

The interactive floor, lighting, and refreshed gaming floor of the Casino of the Rockies have created a unique environment, building on the culture and landscapes of the area. The renovated cafe area and the new “Grab and Go” have provided much-needed amenities for golfers and casino-goers alike. I-5 also upgraded the restrooms and renovated the upstairs offices for the casino management and staff. The owner and the casino team are very happy with the finished project.
