The Squaxin Island Tribe wanted to update the casino gaming floor to create a high-quality and exciting entertainment experience for their guests at the Little Creek Casino property. They also wanted to incorporate design elements and visual motifs from Tribal Culture into the project and create a space tribal members would be proud of. Through creative design and excellent collaboration, the project was able to be completed in just 6 weeks onsite, which was 2 weeks ahead of the promised schedule.
Location: Shelton, Washington
Duration: 6 Weeks
Project Size: 14,000 sf
Services: Design Build Remodel
A dramatic new curving overhead soffit with integrated blue LED lighting mimics the flow of a river as it winds its way around the perimeter of the gaming floor. During fabrication, all finishes were pre-applied so that the custom soffit system could be installed within a very tight onsite schedule.
Floor-to-ceiling columns with natural stone accents and custom mica sconces were designed to flank the perimeter of the gaming floor. Meanwhile, existing structural columns were enclosed in a custom column wrap that featured stained wood and mica pendant lights, which incorporated tribal symbolism supporting the tribal casino design.
Custom-designed and fabricated mica chandeliers feature ”Guardian of the Sun” historic imagery from the tribe and cast a comforting glow within the space. Suspended high above the gaming floor, four canoe décor elements, spanning twenty-seven feet each, contain concealed LED accent lighting that enhances the soothing ambiance of the gaming area while highlighting the custom etched metal finishes.
The renovation at Little Creek Casino was planned in phases so the gaming floor stayed open throughout the onsite performance of the work. This allowed customers to watch the changes happening around them without impacting business at the casino. As décor for each zone arrived on site, an around-the-clock schedule kept the installation ahead of schedule, which also included all necessary adjustments to the infrastructure to facilitate the new décor upgrade.
The old carpet in the gaming floor was removed, and a new, custom-designed, premium carpet tile was installed in coordination during the installation phases. Adjustments were made to the existing HVAC and security systems to work with the new ceiling décor and lighting on the gaming floor ceiling, and walls were also painted out so the new look for the interior extended across each customer-facing area.
